Portland’s women’s beach volleyball team hosted Oregon on Mar. 22, competing in two dual matches at the Pilots’ home courts and falling 4-1 in both contests.

The most notable performances for Portland came from Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson, who earned the Pilots’ only point in each dual. In the first match, Freytag and Larsson won at the No. 2 position with a straight-set victory over AJ Slojkowski and Josie Griffiths of Oregon, finishing 21-16, 21-15. The pair continued their strong play in the second dual by moving to the top spot and defeating Liz Rossi and Bella Gamache of Oregon in three sets: 21-23, 21-18, 17-15.

Other Portland pairs also had competitive showings throughout both matches. Michela Strati and Valerie Bruk pushed their opponents to extra points during the first dual, while they forced a third set as the No. 3 pair in the second matchup. Despite these efforts across different positions, Oregon secured victories on all other courts.

Full results for both matches were provided by Portland athletics staff following Friday’s competition.

Looking ahead, Portland will travel to Santa Cruz, California next weekend to participate in the West Coast Challenge.
