Portland men’s tennis players Nikola Keremedchiev and Cade Fernando have been named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Doubles Team of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office.

The pair secured their sixth consecutive win by defeating Montana State’s Oumar Diallo and Camille Chantron with a 6-1 score on Sunday. Their victory contributed to Portland winning the doubles point and ultimately taking the match 6-1.

Keremedchiev and Fernando now hold a season record of 13 wins and 3 losses, including a 6-2 mark in dual matches at the top position in the lineup.

The Pilots currently have a team record of four wins and five losses. They are scheduled to compete next week at the Golden State Invite, which will be hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State. The team will begin with a doubleheader against UC Davis on Friday morning, followed by a match against Nevada later that day. On Saturday, they will face New Mexico State in Sacramento.

Other WCC tennis weekly honors for March 3 include Lasse Poertner from Pepperdine for singles, and Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida from Pepperdine as freshman honoree.
