Portland Pilots baseball will host the Holy Cross Crusaders in a four-game series at Joe Etzel Field from March 5 to March 8. The games are set to be broadcast on ESPN+, with live stats available through the team’s official website.

The Pilots enter the series with a 4-6 record after securing their first series win of the season against Niagara, taking two out of three games. On Friday, Brady Bean and Jonas Salk each hit their first home runs of the year, contributing to an eight-run game for Portland. Pitchers Ky Hoskinson and Trey Newmann provided effective relief, with Newmann earning saves in both Friday and Saturday’s victories. Logan Anderson pitched a career-high six innings with just one run allowed during Saturday’s win. Will Labonte continued his strong freshman campaign by delivering another shutout outing in Sunday’s loss.

Statistically, Portland leads its conference in earned run average (3.78), hits allowed per nine innings (7.46), and WHIP (1.28). Nationally, they rank within the top 60 in these categories. Freshman pitcher Will Labonte is among just 21 players nationally with a 0.00 ERA through three weekends and is one of only three freshmen nationwide not to have allowed an earned run this season. Dakota Chun leads the conference in doubles, while Newmann ranks second in saves within the West Coast Conference (WCC).

Last season, Portland finished 22-30 overall and fifth in WCC play, marking their fifth consecutive season with at least 20 wins—a feat last achieved between 2008 and 2012. The team qualified for the WCC Tournament for the fourth straight year but was eliminated by LMU Lions. Six players received All-WCC honors last year; four of them return this season.

Head coach Geoff Loomis is now in his eleventh year leading the program and has reached 237 career wins, making him fourth all-time at Portland for total victories as head coach.

Holy Cross arrives at Portland with a record of 4-7 after winning three out of four games against Seattle U Redhawks. Last season, Holy Cross went 31-27 overall and won both their conference regular-season title and tournament championship before falling in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. CJ Egrie was named Patriot League Player of the Year for hitting .308 with five home runs and ranking high nationally in runs per game and stolen bases, while Jaden Wywoda earned Pitcher of the Year honors with nine wins and a 3.63 ERA.

Tickets for upcoming home events can be purchased via PortlandPilots.com/Tickets or through the Portland Pilots App.
