The Portland Pilots track and field team set several personal and school records at the Husky Classic held at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle. The event took place over two days, with athletes from both the men’s and women’s teams achieving notable results.
On Friday, Aria Cain finished fifth in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.80 seconds, marking a personal best and moving her to second on the program’s all-time list. Malia Harvey followed in fourteenth place with a time of 25.09 seconds, also a personal record and now third all-time for the school.
In distance events, Jonas Price finished seventh in the men’s 3000 meters with a personal best of 7:45.65, which is now the second-fastest time in school history. Lindsey Kaines ran a personal best of 9:56.14 in the women’s 3000 meters.
Saturday saw another milestone as freshman Malia Harvey broke the school record in the women’s 400 meters by finishing in 56.14 seconds. Cain competed again in the women’s 60 meters, running 7.64 seconds in preliminaries and setting another personal best of 7.49 seconds in the final, keeping her at second all-time for Portland.
In other events, Estanis Ruiz ran a personal best of 3:59.87 in the men’s mile to maintain his position as fifth all-time at Portland, while Eliason Kabasenche also set a new personal mark at 4:02.36.
The Pilots will next compete at the George Fox Indoor 2 meet on February 20th in Newberg, Oregon.
