The Portland Pilots secured a series win over the Holy Cross Crusaders with a 13-3 victory in eight innings on Saturday. This result brings the Pilots’ season record to 7-6 and marks their second consecutive series win.
Nolan Miller played a key role for Portland, driving in five runs during a 2-for-5 performance that included his second home run of the season. His five RBIs set a personal career high and are the most by any Pilot so far this year. Jonas Salk also contributed significantly, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and hitting his second home run of the season, which ended the game early under run-rule conditions. Trey Swygart and Cody Nitowitz each had multi-hit games as well, with both collecting two RBIs; Swygart hit his first home run of the year.
On the pitching side, Logan Anderson picked up his second win after allowing just two runs over five innings while striking out two batters. Swygart added to his offensive output by earning a save on the mound, throwing three innings with one run allowed and striking out five—a new career best.
Miller opened scoring for Portland with a three-run homer in the first inning. Nitowitz extended the lead with an RBI single in the second. In the third inning, Swygart drove in Salk and later scored himself on a balk, pushing Portland ahead 6-0. Holy Cross responded with two runs in the fifth inning before Swygart hit a solo home run to make it 7-2. The Pilots added four more runs across the sixth and eighth innings, including Salk’s two-run shot that concluded the game.
