The Portland Pilots women’s basketball team lost 64-54 to the Oregon State Beavers in Corvallis. Playing with a reduced roster, the Pilots dropped to 15-12 overall and hold a 9-6 record in West Coast Conference play.

Lainey Spear led the Pilots with 19 points and six rebounds, coming close to her career high. Nicole Anderson contributed 12 points, including three three-pointers. With those shots, Anderson reached 51 made three-pointers this season—the most for any Pilot since Maddie Muhlheim’s 60 in the 2019-20 season.

Florence Dallow recorded a career-best 10 rebounds along with four points. She is now one of only three Portland players this year to collect at least ten rebounds in a single game. The team finished shooting just under 33 percent from the field and hit only a quarter of their attempts from beyond the arc.

Spear scored eight points during the opening quarter as both teams played tight defense. The Beavers managed to lead by two after ten minutes, thanks largely to strong rebounding that gave them additional opportunities on offense.

The second quarter saw similar defensive intensity from both sides. Oregon State put together an early run but was limited to just two more points over the rest of the half as Portland responded with an equal run, taking a narrow one-point lead into halftime.

Oregon State opened up the third quarter with a decisive stretch, scoring seventeen straight points while Portland missed its first six shots of the period. The Pilots managed a short run late in the third but still trailed by twelve entering the final quarter.

Portland narrowed the deficit late in regulation after several free throws from Anderson brought them within four points inside the last minute. However, they were unable to complete their comeback attempt before time expired.

After this result, Tiffany Barbosa made her first collegiate start for Portland. The Pilots will next face Seattle U Redhawks at Redhawk Center on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m., according to information available on PortlandPilots.com. Tickets for upcoming home events can be purchased through the official site or via the team’s app.
