Pilots secure multiple wins and personal records at Electric Forest Open

The Portland Pilots track and field teams earned several event victories and set numerous personal records at the Lewis & Clark Electric Forest Open held on March 21 at Griswold Stadium.

The meet was notable for strong performances in both sprints and distance events. In the women’s sprints, Aria Cain won the 100 meters with a personal record of 12.03 seconds and finished second in the 200 meters with another personal best. Malia Harvey took first place in the 200 meters, also setting a personal record, while Alexis Leao achieved her own best time in that event. Rose Perotin continued the team’s success by winning the 400 meters with a personal record of 58.20 seconds.

Middle-distance races saw Lindsey Kaines win the women’s 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:12.33, followed by Giana Atkinson in second place, who also set a new personal mark. Megan Crum placed second in the women’s 1500 meters and fourth in the 800 meters, achieving personal records in both events. Several other athletes from Portland recorded their best times during these races.

On the men’s side, Nathan Stein led his team to victory in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:51.49, while Giuliano Scasso finished second. Elliot Hawley and Yutaka Roberts posted their fastest times yet in this event as well. In the men’s distance events, Jacob Hupke won the 5000 meters with a personal record of 14:34.73, leading several teammates who also achieved new bests.

The Pilots plan to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next competition at the Pacific Open on March 28.
