The Portland Pilots women’s track and field team finished a successful weekend at the Oregon Twilight and Portland Twilight meets, with a new school record, several event wins, and numerous personal best performances. The results were announced on May 9.

These achievements are important for the Pilots as they approach the end of their regular season. Strong performances can help athletes qualify for upcoming competitions and build momentum for future events.

At the Oregon Twilight held at Hayward Field on Friday, Malia Rose Harvey broke the school record in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 55.23 seconds, earning first place. Aria Cain placed third in the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91 seconds, while Giuliano Scasso finished fifth in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase at 8:50.27.

On Saturday during the Portland Twilight at Griswold Stadium, Adam Lippe won the men’s 5000-meter run in a personal-record time of 14:14.01. Other notable performances included Mark Milner finishing second in the men’s 1500-meter run with a time of 3:41.94 and Yutaka Roberts placing sixth in the men’s 800 meters at 1:51.06.

The women’s distance squad also saw strong efforts in the women’s 5000 meters led by Selena Bangerter’s eighth-place finish; several teammates recorded personal bests as well. In sprints, Aaliyah Nero took second place in the women’s 100 meters with her own personal-best performance before competing again later that day.

Portland will conclude its regular season on May 14 at the George Fox Final Qualifier.
