Pilots start outdoor track season at Linfield’s Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker Invitational

The University of Portland Pilots are set to begin their outdoor track and field season at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker Invitational. The event will be hosted by Linfield University at Maxwell Field in McMinnville, Oregon, on March 6 and 7.

On Friday evening, the men’s team will participate in the 10,000-meter race with a large group of distance runners entered. On Saturday, two women from the Pilots will compete in sprint and hurdle events. Live results for the meet can be found on PortlandPilots.com.

Reflecting on their recent indoor season, the Pilots achieved several podium finishes at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Notably, Trey Gannon, Yutaka Roberts, Sam Regez, and Nathan Stein won the men’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay with a time of 9:56.23.

Aria Cain reached the women’s 60-meter final after running 7.51 seconds in preliminaries and finished fifth overall with a time of 7.62 seconds. In men’s distance events, Giuliano Scasso led his squad with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters (14:49.76 personal best), closely followed by Collin Penuel in seventh (14:49.77 personal best). Bodie Alderson and Jacob Hupke also recorded lifetime bests.

In other performances, Elliot Hawley was runner-up in the men’s mile (4:19.29), while Jonas Price finished fourth (4:20.52). Additional top-eight finishes came from Gannon and Stein.

Mark Milner placed third in the men’s 800 meters (1:51.91), Estanis Ruiz was fourth (1:51.99), and Yutaka Roberts took fifth (1:53.08). For women’s middle distances, Rose Perotin secured fifth place in the 800 meters (2:12.40).

Malia Harvey ran a personal-best time of 24.78 seconds in the women’s 200 meters—ranking second all-time for Portland—and posted a time of 57.17 seconds in the 400 meters.
