After a slow start, the Portland Pilots women’s basketball team secured a 68-61 victory over the Washington State Cougars in Pullman. The win marks the Pilots’ fourth consecutive victory, improving their record to 15-10 overall and 9-4 in West Coast Conference play.
Rhyan Mogel led the Pilots with a career-high 20 points, including four three-pointers and two steals. “Mogel scored a career-high 20 points on the night on four 3-pointers, adding two steals,” according to team officials. She is now the second Pilot this season to reach at least 20 points in a game.
Florence Dallow contributed 12 points and six rebounds, scoring in double digits for the third straight game and twelfth time this season. Dyani Ananiev added 11 points and recorded three steals, surpassing 60 steals for the year with a current total of 62. Jada Kennedy also reached a personal best with nine rebounds for the third time this season.
Portland’s shooting improved after the first quarter, where they managed only two points and shot just 7.7%. In the second quarter, they made seven three-pointers—a season high for threes in one period—and ended with a 12-0 run to take a halftime lead.
The Pilots continued their momentum into the second half, making key plays inside and at the free throw line. Florence Dallow hit a halfcourt shot to close out the third quarter with Portland leading by nine.
In total, Portland made ten three-pointers—their fourth time reaching that mark this season—and forced Washington State into 19 turnovers while collecting 13 steals as a team.
