Portland men’s tennis lost to No. 28 Pepperdine by a score of 4-0 in West Coast Conference play at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on April 5.

The result marks Portland’s fourth consecutive match against a ranked opponent. The Pilots dropped the doubles point after Pepperdine secured wins at the top two positions, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

In singles play, Pepperdine won straight sets at No. 2, No. 6, and No. 3 singles to clinch the overall team victory. Stefan Skobelev from Portland managed to win his first set against Hugh Winter at No. 4 singles but was trailing in the second set when their match was abandoned due to Pepperdine securing enough points for an overall win.

Other matches were left unfinished once Pepperdine reached four points: Edward Winter led Nikola Keremedchiev at No. 1 singles and Photos Photiades was ahead of Tannor Binder at No. 5 when play stopped.

Portland will return home for a non-conference match against Idaho scheduled for Monday at noon.
