The Portland Pilots defeated the No. 17 Oregon State Beavers 3-1 on Mar. 17, marking their ninth home win of the season and their first victory over the Beavers since 2024. The game, held at Joe Etzel Field, also represented Portland’s first home win against Oregon State since 2021.

This result is significant for the Pilots, who improved to an overall record of 11-7 and have now won nine of their last eleven games. The team’s strong defensive performance limited Oregon State to just one run and three hits, a feat they had not achieved against the Beavers since 2019.

Carter Gaston led the pitching staff with five innings pitched and five strikeouts, earning his third win of the season—the most by any Pilot so far this year. Morgan Codron and Kaden Segel each contributed two shutout innings in relief; Segel recorded his second save after closing out a tense ninth inning with bases loaded.

Offensively, Leo Cote went two-for-two with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. Cole Katayama-Stall added two runs and two steals while Brady Bean also stole two bases as part of Portland’s season-high five stolen bases for the second time this year.

Looking ahead, the Pilots will begin conference play on the road against LMU Lions in a three-game series starting Friday, March 20. Fans can follow live stats and video options through PortlandPilots.com.
