The Portland Pilots women’s beach volleyball team will face the Oregon Ducks in a four-match series held across Eugene and Portland, beginning March 20. The teams will compete in doubleheaders on Friday at Grace Community Fellowship Courts in Eugene and conclude the series Sunday at Tom and Meg Names Family Foundation Beach Volleyball Courts in Portland.
This matchup is significant as it offers both teams an opportunity to improve their records early in the season. The Pilots currently hold a 4-7 record, while the Ducks are at 7-10. Live video coverage for Friday’s matches will be available on the B1G+ Network, with live statistics provided on PortlandPilots.com for all contests.
Last week, the Pilots participated in the Hornet Beach Bash, where they lost three matches against Sacramento State Hornets, Corban Warriors, and San Francisco Dons. Despite these losses, several matches were closely contested. The No. 1 pairing of Tate Mercer and Sarah Incitti pushed their opponents to competitive sets but ultimately fell short. Other duos such as Elizabeth Ortiz and Melissa Cormack also kept their matches close.
Dylan Hamilton is entering his third year as head coach of the program, supported by assistant coach Kili Robins and volunteer assistant Madi Culp. The team returns six players from last year’s roster and welcomes several new athletes this season, including Greta Kesmodel, Tate Mercer, Sarah Incitti, Lillian Lansing, Jeryn Hildenbrand, Josie Povey, and Nyah Mitchell. Elin Larsson and Jeryn Hildenbrand return from last year’s indoor roster.
The Pilots finished their previous season with a 5-17 record. As they prepare for this weekend’s series against Oregon, fans can follow live stats or attend home events by securing tickets through PortlandPilots.com.
