Portland Pilots win men’s DMR title at MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships

The Portland Pilots men’s track and field team ended their indoor season with several podium finishes at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada.

A highlight for the team was the men’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay. The squad—Trey Gannon, Yutaka Roberts, Sam Regez, and Nathan Stein—secured first place with a time of 9:56.23.

On the women’s side, Aria Cain advanced to the finals in the 60-meter dash after running 7.51 seconds in preliminaries and later finished fifth overall with a time of 7.62 seconds.

In distance events, Giuliano Scasso led Portland’s men in the 5,000 meters by placing sixth with a personal-best time of 14:49.76. Collin Penuel followed closely behind in seventh place (14:49.77), also setting a personal record. Other personal bests came from Bodie Alderson (10th place) and Jacob Hupke (11th place). Anthony Giesch took eighth.

For the men’s mile event, Elliot Hawley finished second with a time of 4:19.29 while Jonas Price placed fourth (4:20.52). Trey Gannon and Nathan Stein added top-eight finishes as well.

Mark Milner achieved third place in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:51.91; Estanis Ruiz was fourth (1:51.99), and Yutaka Roberts finished fifth (1:53.08).

On the women’s side in middle-distance races, Rose Perotin was fifth in the 800 meters at 2:12.40 and Lindsey Kaines placed thirteenth.

Malia Harvey set a new personal best of 24.78 seconds in the women’s 200 meters—a mark that ranks second all-time for Portland—and ran 57.17 seconds in the 400 meters as well.

The women’s distance medley relay team composed of Lindsey Kaines, Giana Atkinson, Rose Perotin, and Megan Crum placed sixth overall with a finish time of 11:51.24.

With these results from the MPSF Championships completed, Portland now prepares for its outdoor track season this spring.
