The Portland Pilots women’s basketball team lost 60-50 to the Oregon State Beavers in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Basketball Championships, according to a March 8 announcement. The defeat brings the Pilots’ season record to 18-14.

This result is significant as it ends Portland’s run in the West Coast Conference Tournament, where they now hold an 11-4 record under head coach Michael Meek. The loss also impacts their postseason prospects, though the team plans to participate in further postseason play this year.

Dyani Ananiev led Portland with 14 points and four steals, reaching a season total of 76 steals—a mark last achieved by Emme Shearer during the 2023-24 season. Lainey Spear contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds. Despite forcing Oregon State into 16 turnovers and holding them to just over 34% shooting from the field, Portland struggled at the free throw line, attempting only six shots compared to Oregon State’s twenty-four. The Beavers also outrebounded Portland by a margin of 54-29 and scored twenty second-chance points.

The game saw several momentum shifts. After an early lead by Oregon State, Portland responded with a strong defensive stretch and a ten-point run but trailed at halftime following a late surge by the Beavers. In the second half, despite efforts to close the gap—including a seven-point run—Portland was unable to regain control.

Looking ahead, Portland intends to take part in postseason competition later this year. Updates on future games will be available on their official website.
