The West Coast Conference has announced the brackets for the 2026 Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Basketball Championships. The Portland Pilots women’s basketball team is seeded fifth in the tournament.
With this seeding, Portland will bypass the first two rounds and play their first game on Saturday, March 7 at noon. They will face the winner of a matchup between the Pacific Tigers (8-seed) and whoever prevails in Game 1 between Washington State Cougars (9-seed) and Seattle U Redhawks (12-seed).
Portland secured its No. 5 seed after ending the regular season with a record of 17-13 overall and an 11-7 mark in conference play. Their position was confirmed after an overtime win against Gonzaga Bulldogs, which marked their first regular-season victory over Gonzaga since 2009 and their first home win against them since 2001.
Under head coach Michael Meek, Portland has won WCC Tournament titles in 2020, 2023, and 2024. The team’s championship in 2020 was its first since 1994. In both 2023 and 2024, they became the first non-Gonzaga team to win back-to-back titles since Pepperdine achieved that feat in 2003. These wins brought Portland’s total number of WCC tournament championships to four.
The tournament starts on Thursday, March 5 and concludes on Tuesday, March 10. All games except for the championship will be streamed on ESPN+, while the final game will air on ESPN2.
