Portland Pilots women’s beach volleyball sweeps Simpson for second win of season

The Portland Pilots women’s beach volleyball team secured a 5-0 victory against Simpson University in Ashland, Oregon, bringing their season record to 2-2. The match was held at Raider Beach Courts, where the Pilots won all five matches in straight sets.

The team’s first point came from Sarah Incitti and Tate Mercer, who defeated Tiara Manns and Emily Melo 21-14, 21-14 in flight two. Nyah Mitchell and Jeryn Hildenbrand quickly followed with a win in flight four over Mackenzie Tataryn and Sylus Moore, finishing 21-10, 21-12.

Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson clinched the overall win for Portland by defeating Kimora McKechnie and Brooklyn Jimenez 21-14, 21-15 in flight one. Valerie Bruk and Michela Strati continued the winning streak with a victory over Elizabeth Heath and Kare Anne Oshiro in flight three (21-15, 21-13). Greta Kesmodel and Josie Povey completed the sweep by beating Kiersti Howell and Alexia Andaya in flight five (21-17, 21-12).

With this result, Simpson remains winless at 0-6 on the season.

The Pilots are scheduled to play Southern Oregon next at 10 a.m., followed by another match against Simpson at noon to conclude their weekend games.
