Portland State University’s men’s tennis team is set to begin its Big Sky Conference season on Saturday, February 28, hosting Montana State at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton. The match will start at 10:00 a.m.

The Vikings enter conference play with a 3-6 record from non-conference matches, having secured wins against George Fox, UC Santa Cruz, and Lewis-Clark State College. Sophomore Maas Schotanus has led the team in singles competition so far, maintaining an undefeated 4-0 record with victories on both lines two and three. In doubles, freshmen Aarjun Pandit and Ignacio Ruiz have partnered for a 4-2 record. Both players also have three singles wins each this season, with Pandit’s victories all coming from the No. 1 position.

Saturday’s contest will be the first conference match of the year for both Portland State and Montana State. While Montana State holds a 3-4 overall record and has played Idaho State earlier this season in a non-conference matchup, neither team has yet competed in Big Sky play this year.

Portland State aims to end its losing streak against Montana State; the Vikings last defeated the Bobcats in 2021 and have won four times in their history against fifteen losses to Montana State.

Live scoring for Saturday’s match will be available online.
