The Portland State women’s tennis team secured a decisive win over Pacific University on Saturday at the Holce Tennis Center in Forest Grove, Oregon. The Vikings achieved their second consecutive road sweep, winning all singles and doubles matches against the Boxers.
In doubles play, Scarlett Perkins and Nene Uemura started with a 6-1 victory over Tiara Yeung and Henleigh Elder at No. 2 doubles. Hana Abdelhamid and Marta Giglio, playing together for the first time this season on the top court, followed with a 6-2 win against Stella Nishimura and Chloe Takahashi to secure the opening point for Portland State. Anjola Ige and Kasumi Hirayama completed the sweep in doubles with a 6-3 result over Mia Yamaguchi and Brooke Curtis at line three.
During singles competition, Kasumi Hirayama (No. 3), Marta Giglio (No. 4), and Anjola Ige (No. 6) each lost only one game in their matches. Hana Abdelhamid won her match on court five by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Nene Uemura earned a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, finishing 6-3, 6-0. Scarlett Perkins overcame a close first set tiebreaker to defeat Stella Nishimura with scores of 7-6 (5), 6-1.
The Vikings will next play their home opener against Linfield on Sunday, February 8 at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
