The Portland State women’s tennis team recorded its fourth win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Lewis-Clark State on Friday at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, Oregon.
Portland State (4-2) earned the doubles point after sweeping all three courts against Lewis-Clark State (4-5). Scarlett Perkins and Anjola Ige won their match 6-1 against Sonam Chuki Dorji and Ana Govea on court three. Kasumi Hirayama and Nene Uemura followed with a 6-2 win over Rylie Gettmann and Rayana Shah at line two. Hana Abdelhamid and Marta Giglio completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory over Lulu Monnayoo and Naiara Montero on the top court.
In singles play, Portland State won five of six matches. The only point for Lewis-Clark State came from a retirement at line two. Marta Giglio defeated Naiara Montero 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Hana Abdelhamid secured a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, while Kasumi Hirayama claimed a 6-2, 6-2 result at No. 4. Scarlett Perkins beat Lulu Monnayoo at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-2, and Anjola Ige finished the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Portland State will conclude its non-conference schedule by hosting Portland on Sunday, March 1, before beginning Big Sky Conference play. The match is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., again at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
