Portland women’s tennis lost to TCU in a neutral site match on Saturday in Santa Barbara, California. The match ended with a 4-0 score in favor of TCU. The teams played singles matches first, and the doubles matches were not held.
TCU secured victories in straight sets at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles positions. At the top of the lineup, Alaia Rubio Perez was trailing Victoria Gomez after losing the first set 7-5 but was ahead 4-3 in the second set when play stopped. In another unfinished match, Nadine Arbaizar Martinez was tied 4-4 in her second set against Jennifer Jackson after dropping the first set 6-4.
The Pilots will continue their Southern California trip with a third consecutive match on Sunday at UC Riverside.
