Portland State softball senior Sherreigh Nakoa-Chung was named Co-Big Sky Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Mar. 23, following her performance in a no-hit shutout against North Dakota.
This is the second time Nakoa-Chung has received this honor, with her first award coming during her junior year in 2025. The recognition highlights her continued success as a key player for Portland State.
Nakoa-Chung made three appearances during doubleheaders against North Dakota and Santa Clara. Her standout moment occurred in Friday’s opener versus North Dakota, where she pitched a no-hit shutout and struck out a career-high ten batters. The opposing lineup had been averaging nearly eight hits per game before facing Nakoa-Chung but was held hitless by her effort.
Over those three games, Nakoa-Chung recorded a 1.40 earned run average across ten innings pitched. She allowed only three hits—all singles—and limited opponents to a .091 batting average.
Looking ahead to conference play at Montana next weekend, Nakoa-Chung holds a team-best record of five wins and six losses and currently ranks second in the Big Sky Conference with fifty-two strikeouts this season.
