Webp handshake02

Portland State University issued the following announcement on Mar. 3.

Amazon employees in the Portland area have a new option for pursuing a college degree at Portland State University through the Amazon Career Choice education benefit.

Eligible local employees will be able to enroll in one of PSU’s more than 200 degree programs with annual tuition assistance covered by Amazon. PSU is the only four-year university in Oregon to be selected for the program.

This program is part of Amazon’s $1.2 billion investment in upskilling more than 300,000 employees by 2025 to help move them into higher-paying, in-demand jobs. The tuition assistance offered by Amazon can be applied to almost any undergraduate degree or certificate program at PSU. The Career Choice program offers:

•    Access to more than 200 Portland State degree programs with flexible and online learning options across seven schools and colleges.

•    Special Career Choice pricing for in-state students or out-of-state students who work in the Portland area.

•    Admissions, enrollment support and a streamlined admissions process that does not require an essay or test scores.

•    A full suite of student services, including tutoring, financial wellness coaching, and mentoring.

•    Access to a network of hundreds of employers and 100,000-strong alumni-network in the Portland metro area.

“We welcome Amazon employees to join our creative, motivated and diverse student community,” said Chuck Knepfle, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Portland State. “Portland State is ranked No. 1 in Oregon for social mobility by U.S. News & World Report making it the perfect partner for Amazon’s efforts to provide educational and skill building opportunities to employees.”

Amazon’s Career Choice program has a rigorous selection process for third-party partner educators, choosing partners that are focused on helping employees through their education programs, assisting them with job placements, and overall offering education that leads to career success.

“We’re looking forward to Portland State coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice, adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,” said Tammy Thiemann, Global Program Lead of Amazon’s Career Choice program. “We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers, whether that’s with us or elsewhere."
