City’s Spectator Venues Program releases 2021-2022 annual report

The City of Portland’s Spectator Venues Program has published its fiscal year 2021-2022 annual report.

Following prolonged closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the City's premiere sporting and performing arts venues and their operators began hosting teams, performers and visitors - fueling a sense of normalcy once again.

And while peak pandemic closures are over, new challenges have emerged as costs and labor shortages rise and revenues remain lower than pre-pandemic levels.

Despite these new challenges, the Spectator Venues Program, in partnership with its venue operators, sold more than a million tickets to over 700 events, moved ahead with some significant maintenance and safety upgrades at its venues and collaborated on laying the groundwork for future improvements as facilities continue to age.

The 2021-2022 report outlines completed projects and projects on the horizon, as well as Spectator Venues Program challenges and investment opportunities.
