Dear Portlanders,
The Police Accountability Commission is a group of twenty community members developing a new accountability system for Portland police, including a new oversight board and a new investigatory and disciplinary system. This email is a public meeting notice for the Police Accountability Commission for June 2023.
Public Meeting Notice
The Police Accountability Commission is now in its fifth phase of work (Transition Plan and Broader System), developing a Transition Plan and Areas of Agreement on Broader System. This phase also includes the naming of the oversight board and the bureau that reports to it. This phase will end around the end of June, and then the PAC will start its final phase of work, focused on revising existing drafts and converting previous agreements into legal text to recommend to City Council.
Public Meetings
The Police Accountability Commission and sub-committees will hold at least 10 meetings (one of which was held today) through the end of June. Public notice was previously issued for the May 30 meeting.
Please note that of the meetings on June 5 and June 6 or 10, one will be a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Transition Plan and the other a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Broader System. The same is true of the meetings on June 12 and June 13 or 17.
