329 coaches at institutions in Multnomah County earned $39,388 on average in 2022

Multnomah County’s 329 coaches earned an average salary of $39,388 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the seventh highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Oregon post-secondary schools during 2022.

Multnomah County is home to seven post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Portland stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $151,082.

Male coaches of men's teams received $63,084 on average in Multnomah County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $42,722.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
