Portland State University’s Terri Miller Jr. has received three major post-season honors, according to a March 12 announcement from the university. Miller, who was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, is now a finalist for the Lou Henson Award, which recognizes the top player in mid-major college basketball. He was also selected for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Pacific District second team and the Big Sky Conference All-Tournament team.
These recognitions highlight Miller’s strong performance during the season and his impact on Portland State’s men’s basketball program. The Lou Henson Award is considered one of the most prestigious individual awards for players outside of major conferences.
Miller, a senior forward standing at 6-foot-8, averaged 19.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this season while shooting over 50 percent from the field, nearly 40 percent from three-point range, and 70 percent from the free throw line. His efforts helped lead Portland State to its first Big Sky Conference regular season title in eighteen years and a semifinal appearance in the conference tournament before being eliminated by Montana.
At the Big Sky Tournament, Miller averaged 21.5 points and contributed significantly with a double-double performance against Idaho State that secured a quarterfinal victory for his team. He is one of only two players from the Big Sky Conference named as finalists for the Lou Henson Award this year.
The Lou Henson Award winner will be announced in Indianapolis during the men’s Division I Basketball Championship. The NABC All-Pacific District teams are selected by coaches within Oregon, Washington, California, and Hawai’i and recognize top performers across these states.
As Portland State looks ahead to future seasons, Miller’s achievements mark an important milestone for both him personally and for Vikings basketball.
