Two children who were reported missing in Multnomah County have been found safe, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). The incident began when the children were taken by their non-custodial mother, 37-year-old Ann Marie Quarles, which violated a court order.

Deputies located Quarles and her two children around 2:30 a.m. on February 25, 2026, in the 17000-block of Northeast Sacramento Street in Gresham. The sheriff’s office confirmed that neither child appeared to be injured.

Detectives are concluding their investigation and will submit the case to the district attorney for review.

The MCSO started the AMBER Alert process due to concerns for the children’s safety based on available information at the time. However, Oregon State Police (OSP), which is responsible for Oregon’s AMBER Alert system, notified MCSO that this situation did not meet the requirements needed to issue an official alert.

“MCSO appreciates the community members and media who helped share the information in this case. In situations such as this, community involvement plays an important role in supporting investigations and generating tips that may assist in locating those involved,” stated the sheriff’s office.

No further details are being released at this time.
