University of Portland track teams prepare for Husky Classic competition

The University of Portland Pilots are set to compete at the Husky Classic, which will take place at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Washington, on February 13 and 14, 2026. The event is hosted by the University of Washington. Live results from the meet will be available on PortlandPilots.com.

On Friday, events begin at 2:15 p.m. with Aria Cain and Malia Rose Harvey running in the women’s 200 meters. Lindsey Kaines is scheduled for the women’s 3000 meters at 2:45 p.m., followed by seven Pilots—Anthony Giesch, Jacob Hupke, Eliason Kabasenche, Jonas Price, Aaron Rovnak, Giuliano Scasso, and Nathan Stein—in the men’s 3000 meters at 3:45 p.m. Megan Crum and Clare Herring will compete in the women’s 5000 meters at 4:30 p.m., and the men’s distance medley relay is set for 6:20 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule includes Aria Cain in the women’s 60-meters preliminary round starting at 10 a.m., with Malia Rose Harvey running in the women’s 400 meters half an hour later. The men’s mile features eight Pilots at 12:30 p.m.: Trey Gannon, Jacob Hupke, Eliason Kabasenche, Jonas Price, Aaron Rovnak, Estanis Ruiz, Giuliano Scasso, and Nathan Stein. Rose Perotin races in the women’s 800 meters at 1:05 p.m., while Gabriel Morrow, Sam Regez, and Yutaka Roberts are entered in the men’s 800 meters beginning at 1:32 p.m.

In their most recent competitions last weekend—the George Fox Indoor 1 and Portland Indoor 2 meets—the Pilots achieved several notable performances. At George Fox Indoor 1, Aria Cain won both prelims (7.75) and finals (7.70) of the women’s 60 meters; Aaliyah Nero finished nineteenth in prelims with a time of 8.55 seconds.

At Portland Indoor 2 held at Chiles Center on Sunday, Malia Harvey won the women’s 300 meters in a school-record time of 41.29 seconds. Lola Richardson placed eighth with a personal best of 44.50 seconds; Nero finished fourteenth (46.79), moving to fourth all-time for Portland in that event. Giana Atkinson won the women’s 600 meters with a personal best of 1:37.12—the second-fastest mark in program history.

On the men’s side during that meet, Yutaka Roberts claimed victory in the men’s 600 meters (1:20.85), followed by Sam Regez (second place; personal best of 1:21.66). In other results from Sunday’s meet: Madi Callo won the women’s 800 meters (2:25.26), while Clare Herring led a group of Pilots to third place overall in the mile (5:21.75).

Both Pilot squads closed out Portland Indoor 2 with wins in their respective 4×400-meter relays; Harvey, Cain, Herring and Atkinson posted a winning time of 4:08.75 for the women’s team while Austin George, Gabriel Morrow, Sam Regez and Yutaka Roberts secured first place for the men’s team (3:30.16).
