Scam Alert

144

*PLEASE SHARE* We continue to hear from community members regarding an on-going phone scam seeking money and confidential personal information. The scam calls are from someone posing as a Sheriff’s Office employee. The caller says you have a warrant, missed court date, or have missed jury duty and must pay immediately or be arrested. The scammer also demands that you stay on the phone and tells the person they are not allowed to contact family or friends for advice. Often the scammer asks you to pay for a fine with a gift card. THIS IS A SCAM.

We want to remind everyone that MCSO does not conduct matters concerning warrant service, missed jury duty or payment of fines over the phone. We urge you to be aware of these ongoing and evolving scams.
