The first Government Transition Advisory Committee meeting was held on April 25, and the new members reviewed foundational documents and heard a presentation on the City’s draft transition plan. The presentation offered a detailed orientation about the parallel project tracks the team is managing towards reaching the end goal of Jan. 1, 2025, when the newly elected city council, mayor and auditor are sworn in and begin their terms. Watch the meeting and access meeting materials on the project website. Note: In the meeting video, the presentation begins at the1:41 timestamp.
At the second meeting on May 1, the meeting focused on the roles and responsibilities of the city administrator and elected officials under the revised charter. Visit the May 1 meeting page to watch the recorded meeting and access meeting materials.
While the advisory committee will develop its own work plan, expected responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that implementation of the November 2022 voter-approved charter amendments is done effectively and efficiently, following the City’s core values of anti-racism, equity, communication, collaboration, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.
- Maintaining open and consistent communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders throughout the transition, and ensure input is meaningfully integrated into the City’s implementation of the November 2022 voter-approved Charter amendments.
- Serving as the primary solicitor and repository of public input related to the transition (non-districting topics only, not including comments related to the salary or district commissions).
- Advising the City on the charter amendments transition plan and community education and engagement plan, including project schedule and project budget, resource allocation and funding strategy.
