The City of Portland and Multnomah County’s 311 Program is expanding its hours and will now be open on weekends to better assist community members. Starting Saturday, July 1, PDX 311’s customer service team will be available by phone and email from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, except federal holidays.
Community members can reach PDX 311 seven days a week by calling 3-1-1 or (503) 823-4000. Nearly 90% of calls to 311 are answered in less than 25 seconds. Alternatively, community members can email 311@portlandoregon.gov or by come to the Customer Service Desk at 1120 SW 5th Avenue, Portland on weekdays.
“Our priority is providing high quality experiences to our community members,” said Jen Reagle, 311 Customer Service Supervisor. “Expanding PDX 311’s program hours are one way we can immediately assist community members who are looking for information, making requests, or reporting concerns.”
Over the last few years, the 311 program has steadily expanded hours and added customer service representatives to better help community members find information, request services, report issues, pay fees, and participate in government. Expansion of hours to seven days a week is in direct response to increasing community use of PDX 311. In 2022, community members contacted PDX 311 over 142,000 times, primarily by phone. The 311 Program anticipates taking an additional 30,000 calls a year with the weekend expansion."Expanding 311 helps the City serve Portlanders in a more efficient and meaningful manner, while also alleviating 911 call volume, which has increased rapidly in recent years," said Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. "311 has quickly adapted to assist Portlanders with a variety of questions, issues, or concerns and I'm grateful we are able to bolster and expand their good work." Community members don't need to speak English to talk to a 311 customer service representative. When calling 311, say the language needed and wait while staff connect with an interpreter who can help. Callers can also use 711 to access relay services for people who are deaf, deaf-blind, and speech disabled.
